This piece features a pumpkin linework motif created through a traditional Katazome paste-resist dyeing process. Instead of a filled motif, the design is drawn with soft resist lines, giving the curtain a quiet graphic character while still keeping the natural texture of the cloth visible.
A rice-based resist paste is carefully applied over the pattern before the fabric is dipped, dyed, and dried. After the dyeing process is complete, the paste is removed by hand, revealing the light linework pumpkin motif against the plant-dyed ground.

The limited Earth Brown option is dyed with 5-year-aged fermented persimmon tannin, also known as Kakishibu. This process requires three rounds of dyeing and more than 60 hours of sun exposure to develop the color. Because the result depends heavily on weather conditions, sunlight, drying time, and hand labor, this option requires more time and cost to produce.
Among our plant-dyed noren options, the 5-year persimmon tannin version creates the most durable textile finish. It is suitable for outdoor or semi-outdoor use, such as a covered entry, porch, garden doorway, or storefront. With continued exposure to sunlight, the color will gradually mature and become richer over time, developing a deeper and more beautiful natural patina.
